Animal Paintings & Portraits

I love animals, and painting them gives me to opportunity to really tune into their nature. On this page you will find pet portraits and animal paintings. We have dogs, a cat, and a bear.
“Oh my.”

Self Portraits

I only have a few of these. I’m a bit confounded about self-portraits. I feel it is quite hard to portray one’s “self” since it is an amalgamation of varied human aspects and experiences.

Watercolour & Ink Illustrations

I have also developed a habit of illustrating small animals (mostly rabbits) for kids. I suppose I’m somehow in denial of this because they do not yet have their own page, but you can find them on my Home Page, in my Blog, and in the Shop.

Portraits & Figures

Portrait and figure drawing is one of my key interests. I work primarily from photographs and models, complete commissions and self-chosen subjects, and occasionally work conceptually (with no visual reference). A sample of photos appears below. These paintings and drawings span from 2014 to today. Some of the oldest are at the bottom, but the gallery is grouped by subject and style, not really in chronologically.

I do a lot of pet portraits. These are a lot of fun. I typically do not find as much time as I would like to work on the vignette portraits I have cooking in my mind, like the ones directly below. I hope to be updating soon with more of these. There. I’ve said it publicly. I’ll have to make time now. Hah.

These two pieces directly above here are interesting because the painting (green background) is my mom around the age I was when I did the following self-portrait drawing. Striking resemblance!
