The Basics

Your experience on this site is important to me.

Since legal language is both boring and opaque, and often includes information that only MAY be relevant to the average user, here is a simplified explanation of Julie Karey Art’s T&C. Keep in mind this summary here is just that, and the full legal terms appear below under the heading Terms & Conditions.

In general, Terms and Conditions are created so that no one gets the wrong idea about the nature of our relationship: me the website owner and you the user. They provide explicit guidelines about what users can expect from me, my content, and my services; and what users can and cannot do on the site and with its content and services. They essentially aim to ensure that neither of us does harm to the other be it by accident or otherwise.

The purpose of my website is to feature my art, offer my artworks for sale online, and let visitors get to know me as an artist and a human being. Its main pages aim to organize my work in an interesting and coherent way, and my Blog features my own writing about art, chronic illness, life, and how these intersect for me. This content aims to be informative, thought-provoking, and sometimes useful as I like to share my life hacks from time to time.

In service of these aims, my site employs third-party companies like WordPress, Woocommerce, and Siteground, each of which will have their own Terms and Conditions on their own respective sites. I also include links to other sites from time to time, which again will have their own Terms and Conditions. To the best of my knowledge, these third-parties are honest and reliable although I cannot guarantee this.

I reserve ownership over my original content for all time. Borrowed content is marked as such, and when possible, links to the original content are included. Users should offer me the same courtesy. When borrowing my content, please mark it as borrowed from me specifically, and provide a link back to my site. When these credits are offered, everybody wins! When borrowed content is linked, this means more traffic for everyone.

In the age of trolling, I reserve the right to bar any user who I deem to be disrespectful or harmful to my site, myself, or others. Just, no.

Lastly, I have chosen to offer my content and services “as is” because I am an amateur web developer. This does not mean I intend any negligence or dishonesty. It protects me from getting sued (I think) in the event that anything unfortunate occurs as a result of an honest oversight. That said, integrity is a core value for me, and I truly want users to have a positive experience of my content and services. If ever you feel that your reasonable expectations have not been met, please contact me.

I am committed to honouring and protecting your use of my website’s contents and services in good faith. I will be keeping as up to date as possible and informing users of any important changes that occur.
